I am off to College but my family is still baking desserts for donations and making hand crafted items to reach my 100% goal for all 4 years. We're almost always baking so visit my Fundraiser and Cookie pages. The best cookies in town are just a telephone call away.
What I learned and observed traveling as a People to People Student Ambassador has changed me for the better and forever. My trips have been both rewarding and educational. I have met so many different and wonderful people throughout my travels and incredible only begins to describe my adventures. I am proud to tell everyone how wonderful it is to be a People to People Alumni Student Ambassador.
Traveling with People to People has given me a deeper appreciation for history and opened my eyes to a magnificent world of cultural experiences. While fund raising for my first trip, The European Discovery to in 2010, I gained valuable skills in communications, self esteem and humility. That trip exceeded my expectations and was nothing short of a breathing taking experience of a lifetime. I returned feeling like a more well rounded citizen.
While fund raising for my second trip, The Great Wall and Beyond, China in 2011, I had a better understanding of the economy and the impact it had on charitable contributions. The trip to China was an incredible learning experience. I felt at home working with the special needs children as that is the teaching path I have chosen. I was especially touched by the children of China and when I returned home I decided to research a more active role in our community to help the less fortunate.
After my return from China, my leaders nominated me for the 2011 National Student Ambassador of the Year Award. I was thrilled and honored just to have been nominated. In addition, my leaders encouraged me to travel as a Junior Leader on my next trip, Mediterranean Traditions to Spain and Italy in 2012. Leaders play a very important role in the People to People adventure. Our leaders were energetic and enthusiastic and their hard work and dedication continually showed through affording our delegation the best experience possible.
In addition to the support I received from my family, friends and community during my fund-raising efforts, I was fortunate enough to have been the lucky recipient of several scholarships from People to People over the past few years. I am especially proud of my website which won 2nd place out of 2,400 entries in a creative challenge contest. Fund-raising my program tuition has made my People to People journeys more meaningful and reaffirmed my belief that hard work and commitment do pay off. I have enjoyed sharing my fund raising ideas with other delegates and their families and I will gladly continue to be a resource avenue for future delegates.
I am excited to announce that I have been once again accepted by People to People to travel as a Junior Leader during my upcoming Traditions of Europe trip to the British Isles in July 2013. It has always been and will continue to be, an honor to follow in all of my leader's footsteps and aspire to their level of leadership. I am off to college in the fall and although this is my final year traveling as a student ambassador, I hope to continue the People to People adventure by becoming a leader myself.
I am a true believer in promoting the People to People message of "peace through understanding" and my wish is that some day every student will be able to participate in and benefit from what People to People has to offer.
I would like to take a moment to thank People to People. I am truly humbled by all that they have given to me. I am and I will continue to pay it forward.
